Ed Weinfurtner

Painesville, Ohio, February 3, 2012 – Cleveland area entrepreneur, Ed Weinfurtner has reached an agreement with Ohio Associated Enterprises, LLC to acquire an ownership interest in the company and to assume the role of CEO for Ohio Associated Enterprises and its divisions, Meritec Products and Joy Signal Technology. Company founder, and previous CEO, John Venaleck will remain with the company as its Chairman.

Weinfurtner, a Harvard graduate, is an entrepreneur with over 25 years leadership experience in privately held businesses. His experience includes leading distribution and manufacturing companies in a variety of industries including electronics, building materials, specialty chemicals, and metals. Ed has served on a number of boards and has been an active business advisor, executive leader, founder, and investor in a number of privately held businesses.

Ed is probably best known in the electronics industry for his leadership as President/CEO and owner of Gateway Megatech Corp., a $52 million regional electronic interconnect distribution and cable assembly manufacturing company. Mr. Weinfurtner positioned Gateway for unprecedented growth at +20 percent average annually over the 14 years he led the company. It was recognized as a “Weatherhead 100 Company” and one of the fastest growing companies in Ohio in the 90’s. Ed sold Gateway to Heilind Electronics where he then served as an Executive Vice President helping to lead the company grow from $185 million in sales to $340 million in three years.

Based on discussions with Associated Enterprises’ Business Teams, Weinfurtner indicated his initial focus will include honing core competencies, strategic product development, and organizational development to expand Meritec’s already exemplary reputation for innovation and quality.
